How we make money

The short version

gennyguide is free to read. We earn money in three ways:

• Amazon Associates. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases when you buy a generator through a link we've marked. This is our main source of revenue on the sizing, best-of and brand pages.
• Contractor-lead referrals. On the cost and installation pages, requesting quotes through our partners (Modernize, Networx or Angi) can earn us a referral fee if you're matched with an installer. It costs you nothing extra.
• Display advertising. Some pages carry ads served through Google AdSense. This is a smaller part of what we earn.

The rule we never break

No manufacturer pays us for placement. Generac, Kohler, Cummins, Champion and Westinghouse cannot buy a better ranking, a higher pick, or a friendlier write-up. The sizing recommendation, the cost range and the brand comparison you see are the same whether you click a link or not. When we compare brands, we say exactly what we compared them on — kW class, fuel type, transfer-switch compatibility, noise and warranty — and we don't claim to have run tests we haven't run.

Why we disclose this

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission asks sites like ours to disclose paid and affiliate relationships clearly — and beyond the legal requirement, it's simply the honest thing to do. Amazon and partner links are marked where they appear, not buried at the bottom of the page.

What this means for you

Our incentive is to get your sizing, cost and brand questions right, because the site only works if you trust the numbers. Requesting installer quotes through gennyguide costs nothing and puts you under no obligation, and you're always free to take the specs here and shop or call contractors on your own.
